Isolated from different actinomycetes (Streptomyces michigaensis, Streptomyces yokosukaensis) Antipain belongs to the group of mikrobiell inhibitors of trypsin like proteases (e.g. Trypsin, Papain, Cathepsin B). Antipain inhibits also Cathepsin A, a carboxypeptidase, that is not inhibited by other Actionomycetes. 'normal' working concentrations are 10-50 µg/mL. A stock solution of 10 mg/mL in water, DMSO or MeOH is recommended.
