Lincomycin belongs to the lincosamine group of antibiotics and is isolated from Streptomyces lincolnensis cultures. Lincomycin, more accurate Lincomycin A, is build up by propylproline, a derivative of the amino acid Proline and the amino carbohydrate Methylthiolincosaminide, a derivative of Oktose.
