Insert Inspector is a fast and convenient system to determine the size of inserts and cloning efficiencies after transformation without time consuming DNA preps..

The Genaxxon Insert Inspector is for analysing plasmids for insert sizes after ligation and transformation. It can also be used for colony screens (patch technique). Preparation of plasmids and time consuming digestions are now unnecessary. Insert Inspector can be used to screen insert sizes of high-copy and low-copy E. coli plasmids. Screening of clones may be achieved within one hour or less by agarose gel electrophesis. This protocol is designed for plasmid extraction from single colonies, colony patches on plates, and early-stationary cells of E. coli in liquid LB medium. The size difference between control plasmids (e.g. empty cloning vector) and plasmid bearing 'correct' inserts should be 10% or more.
