Suited for preparation of continuous and discontinuous density gradients. For stabilisation of membrane-bound particles, isolation of lymphocytes. Better osmotic properties than sucrose. Ficoll is also part of Denhardt's solution. As a supplement in gel loading buffers it increases density of the buffer for faster settlement of the solution in the gel caves while loading the gel. |
