Lysozyme from chicken egg, ca. 20.000 U/mg 50 g
Lysozym also known as Muramidase, muco-peptide-glycohydrolase or mucopeptide N-acetyl-muramoylhydrolase. EC 3.2.1.17, Crystalline powder. | |
EC 3.2.1.17, Crystalline powder. Lysozyme hydrolyses the beta-1-4 linkages of the murein between N-actylmuramic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamin, and degrades the heteroglycan chain to disaccharides. This reaction leads to cell lysis in most grampositive bacteria, e.g. Micrococcus luteus. Lysis can be prevented if the reaction is performed in an isotonic sucrose medium. Stable proteoplasts are produced under these conditions. |
