Soybean peptone is a mixture from peptides and amino acids, produced by enzymatic hydrolysis of plant proteins. Soybean peptone show only a small molecular mass, which is the reason for its unability to be precipitated by salts. Peptones do not coagulate. Normally they will stay dissolved being an ideal nutrition supplement for media for bacteria and yeast. Proteins being hydrolysed by Trypsin are called Tryptones. They can be used for similiar purposes. |
