Protein fraction of cell extract that binds to anion exchange resin. Essentially ubiquitin-free and ATP-free. Elute contains E1, most E2s, UCHs and the proteasome (20S and 26S).

Ideal for demonstrating ubiquitin and/or ATP dependent degradation of in vitro substrates as well as in vitro conjµgation activity in the presence of proteasome inhibitor and Ub-H.
