This interaction can be used for qualitative and quantitative detection, labelling or immobilisation. The biotinylated amyloid-ß peptides are N-terminally labelled. Two 6-aminohexanoic acid residues are inserted as spacer between the amyloid-ß peptide itself and biotin. The enlarged distance minimise steric hindrance and improve the availability of biotin for avidin or streptavidin binding.
