TBS (Tris buffered saline) is isotonic, non-toxic to cells and suitable for molecular biology. The buffer is commonly used as substance diluent or wash buffer in immunoassays such as ELISA. It is used in immuno-histochemical staining when the background is high and for diluting alkaline phosphatase or peroxidase-conjugated antibodies in Western blotting.
Tablets are supplied in exactly pre-weighed tablets, each tablet giving 500mL of 0.15M NaCl, 0.050M Tris-HCl buffer solution with pH7.6 at 25°C.
Directions for use:
- Place one tablet in a laboratory flask or beaker placed on a magnetic stirrer.
- Add 200mL of deionized water and stir the solution for a few minutes.
- Adjust the volume up to 500mL.
- Stir until full dissolution and the buffer is ready to use.
