N-[4-(5,6-Dimethoxy-N-phthalimidinyl)phenyl]maleimide. Nonfluorescent N-substituted maleimides react selectively with thiol compounds to form fluorescent derivatives. Fluorescent intensity of the dimethoxyphthalimidyl group is higher than that of the nonsubsituted phthalimidyl group.
