It stimulates the production and differentiation of megakaryocytes, the bone marrow cells that fragment into large numbers of platelets. ED50 range = 0.05-0.015ng/mL corresponding to a specific activity of 20-66MU/mg, determined by the dose dependent proliferation of Mo7e cells. The optimal concentration for each specific application should be determined by an initial dose-response assay.
