Lysostaphin, eine spezifische Endopeptidase für Zellwandpeptidoglycane von Staphylococci, ist ein extrem potentes anti-Staphylococcus Reagenz. Lysostaphin wird in der Diagnostik und Forschung eingesetzt. Weil es Staphylococci sehr effektiv lysiert, wird es verbreitet für die Isolation von Staphylococcus DNA oder anderen zellulären Komponenten, die für genetische oder biochemische Studien benötigt werden eingesetzt.
