RNase Inhibitor (Ribonuclease Inhibitor / RNasin) ist ein über ein breites Spektrum wirkender Inhibitor von RNasen, die durch eine Bindung an den Inhibitor im Verhältnis 1:1 reversibel inaktiviert werden. Die Bindungskonstante des Komplexes ist größer 10E14. Inhibiert werden RNase A/B/C und die humane Plazenta-RNase. Die RNase kann vom Inhibitor-Komplex reaktiviert werden, indem man den Inhibitor mit 7M Harnstoff oder Hitze (>65°C) inaktiviert. Um die volle inhibierende Wirkung zu erhalten, ist es wichtig, immer mind. 1mM DTT in den Reaktionen zu haben. RNase Inhibitor wurde mittels Ionen- und Affinitätschromatographie gereinigt. Ursprünglich isoliert wurde der RNase Inhibitor aus humaner Placenta zur reversiblen Inaktivierung von RNAse H.
Der von Genaxxon angebotene RNase Inhibitor inhibiert die folgenden RNasen nicht: RNase T1, S1 nuclease, RNase aus Aspergillus, RNase H oder RNase ONE™ Ribonuclease.
